Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between metacognitive awareness and decision-making styles among a sample of 316 male and female teachers in Palestine, selected through convenience sampling during the first semester of the 2023–2024 academic year.

Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive correlational approach to achieve its objectives.
Results: The findings revealed a full mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between metacognitive awareness and the dependent, intuitive, and avoidant decision-making styles. Additionally, emotional intelligence was found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between metacognitive awareness and the rational and spontaneous decision-making styles. Conclusion: In light of these findings, the study recommends integrating metacognitive awareness and emotional intelligence skills into teacher preparation and training programs, due to their positive impact on enhancing effective decision-making styles in the educational field.
