The Role of the Jordanian Universities in Supporting the Values of Citizenship

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate The role of the Jordanian universities in supporting the  values of citizenship from the faculty members perspective, The study sample  included (371) faculty in the humanitarian and scientific colleges, in the Jordanian universities (Yarmouk, Al-Albiet, Jadara, Irbid private university). who were chosen randomly. To achieve the objectives the researcher prepared a questionnaire made up of (28) items.

The study results showed that the most important citizenship values the Jordanian universities try to instill at its members and workers from the faculty members perspectives: home loyalty, patriotism and keeping it safe. Also showed that the feasibility of support of such values from the faculty members perspectives were moderate generally, with a mean of (3.31). the results showed that there are statistical (a= 0.05) due to university type, and for the benefit of the private universities, the results also showed that there are statistical (a= 0.05) due to college type.

Upon the past results the researchers recommended the following: adopting the values of citizenship in the educational philosophies of  Jordanian universities and practicing it inside its departments,The role of the universities in increasing the value of citizenship, duning there blans and courses which result increasing batrionism.
