Duties of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board

The Jordanian Journal of Educational Sciences (JJES) upholds the highest academic and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and transparency of editorial processes. Their key duties include:

  • Ensuring Quality and Integrity: Implementing policies that maintain academic and ethical standards.
  • Selection of Peer Reviewers: Appointing qualified, conflict-free reviewers.
  • Editorial Decision-Making: Ensuring impartial acceptance or rejection based on scientific merit.
  • Confidentiality & Reviewer Anonymity: Safeguarding submitted manuscripts and protecting peer reviewer identities.
  • Ethical Oversight: Addressing citation pressure, authorship disputes, and research misconduct.

By adhering to these principles, the Editorial Board upholds JJES's reputation for academic excellence and fairness.

Authors' Responsibilities

Authors submitting to JJES must maintain high standards of originality, integrity, and ethical research practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Originality & Scientific Rigor: Submitting authentic, methodologically sound research.
  • Exclusive Submission: Confirming the manuscript is not under review elsewhere.
  • Data Availability & Accuracy: Ensuring transparency and providing supporting data.
  • Ethical Citation & Formatting: Following APA citation guidelines and ethical attribution of co-authors.
  • Disclosure Requirements: Reporting funding sources, authorship contributions, and thesis/dissertation origins.

Authors are accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and credibility of their work.

Reviewers' Responsibilities

Peer reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the academic integrity of JJES. Their primary duties include:

  • Objective & Rigorous Evaluation: Assessing manuscripts based on scientific merit.
  • Confidentiality: Protecting manuscript details and adhering to a double-blind review process.
  • Timely & Fair Review Process: Providing constructive feedback within deadlines.
  • Ethical Oversight: Reporting suspected plagiarism, falsification, or misconduct.
  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Recusing themselves from biased evaluations.

Reviewers help ensure the scholarly quality and ethical integrity of JJES publications.

Editorial Process

JJES follows a transparent and rigorous editorial workflow:

  1. Submission Acknowledgment: Authors receive confirmation upon submission.
  2. Preliminary Screening: Manuscripts undergo an initial assessment for scope and quality.
  3. Peer Review: Selected experts evaluate manuscripts based on a structured review form.
  4. Editorial Decision: The Editorial Board makes a final decision based on reviewer feedback.
  5. Revisions & Adjustments: Authors may be required to modify manuscripts for alignment with journal policies.
  6. Final Acceptance & Notification: Authors receive formal notification regarding their manuscript's status.

JJES reserves the right to make minor technical edits for consistency.

Proofs and Reprints

To ensure publication accuracy:

  • Proof Review: Authors receive proofs for minor corrections.
  • Timely Revisions: Proofs must be reviewed and returned within one week.
  • Limited Changes: Only typographical corrections are allowed at this stage.
  • Complimentary Copies: Authors receive a copy of the journal issue and ten (10) free offprints.

Additional reprints can be requested via an order form.
