School Climate in Jordan Basic Schools as Perceived by Islamic Education Teachers as Well as Tenth-Grade Students and its Relationship with Some Variables

This study aimed at identifying the characteristics of school
climate in the schools of Zarqa from the perspectives of teachers of
Islamic education as well as tenth grade students and its relationship
with the following variables: directorate of education, school type and
school size. The sample of the study consisted of (36) teachers and
(324) students in (18) schools chosen by the random stratified method
.For the purpose of the study, a questionnaire was constructed by the
researcher. It included (37) items divided into five domains; it was
expert verified and its reliability level was found to be (0.93), through
applying alpha equation. The results revealed that the most important
positive features of the school climate were: the relationship between
students, the relationship between students and teachers, the
relationship between students and school administration, the
relationship between teachers and school administration, but the
negative feature was the presence of school problems. The results of
study showed no significant differences between the means of the
teachers' and students’ assessment due to the impact of the variables
of study. On the other hand, there were significant differences between
the means of students’ assessment due to the impact of directorate of
education, type of school; however, there was no impact of school
size. In the light of these findings the researcher recommended some
solutions to improve school climate, and suggested doing research
related to the topic of the study.
