Abstract

This study examines resilience levels in relation to academic adjustment and achievement among a sample of (195) students enrolled in undergraduate, community college, and vocational programs. Respondents were distributed into two group (Childcare center graduates, n= 92 , and students of normal families, n=103). A number of classified variables were controlled. Resilience and academic adjustment scales were employed. Results have indicated that high levels of resilience were found among orphans in general, Furthermore, resilience proved to be a good predictor of academic adjustment and achievement. In comparison to students in normal families, orphans showed significant differences on resourcefulness subscale. No significant differences were found related to gender, whilst significant differences were found in resilience attributed to residency and level of education
