Abstract

The Purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship
between authority sources of public secondary school principals in
Jordan as perceived by teachers and their achievement motivation,
and its relation due to gender and teachers experience. A Sample of
(647) teachers was selected by the stratified-random sampling
method. For data collection, a three-part questionnaire was used:.
First, demographical information of the respondent, second, Rahim
and Magner Scale of power bases, and third, Al_Azraq Scale of
Achievement Motivation. The findings indicated that the practicing
degree of secondary school principals of authority sources was high,
and the achievement motivation of teachers was high as well.
Furthermore, the results indicated that there was an effect of the
gender and teaching experience on the practicing degree of authority
source. They also indicated that there was no effect of these variables
on the degree of the achievement motivation of the teachers. The
results also revealed that there was a positive relation between the
degree of principals' practice of authority source and the achievement
motivation of their school teachers
