Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the attitudes of
educational sciences students towards the elective course "Library
Skills and Use" as a model for information literacy. Data were
collected by a questionnaire with 30 items distributed on five areas:
course importance, acquired knowledge concepts, acquired practical
skills, course teaching methods, and attitudes towards university
library. The population of the study consisted of (112) students who
enrolled in the course, of whom 100 or (89.3%) responded. Findings
indicate that students' attitudes towards the course were positive with
high degree, and that the area of practical skills ranked first. Results
also revealed no statistically significant differences between
respondents in all areas of specialization, while they show statistically
significant differences among respondents in the area of attitudes
toward university library due to study level in favor of juniors. They
also show that there are statistically significant differences among
respondents in the area of attitudes towards teaching methods due to
gender in favor of males.
