Family socialization patterns: Personality attributes : EysenckAbstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship
between family socialization patterns and some personality styles by
female undergraduates at Mu’tah University. The family socialization
patterns were operationally restricted to only two patterns; the
democratic-autocratic and hypercare- ignorance. Eysenck scale for
personality attributed was used for the purpose of this study. The
sample of this study comprised (421) students from the faculties at
Mu’tah University. The findings of the study indicated that the
autocratic pattern was dominated by fathers; yet mothers tended to
rely on the hypercare pattern. The findings also showed that the
(Extraversion–Introversion) pattern was the same for all participants;
but the(emotions)pattern was high(80.9%) versus (19.1%) for
equilibrium pattern. The findings also revealed a correlation between
the mother’s democratic–autocratic pattern and the personality’s
attributed (balanced–emotional) pattern. However, no correlation was
detected between the father’s demo-auto, hypercare-ignorance and
the personalities of the student. Additionally,it was detected that the
mother’s hyper care-generics, demo-auto patterns were not correlated
with (Extraversion-Introversion) pattern.
