Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between fear of happiness and self-criticism among Yarmouk University students in the light of sex, and specialization variables. The study sample consisted of (445) students (152 male and 293 female). To achieve the aims of the study, two measures were developed, one to measure the fear of happiness, and the other to measure self-criticism. The results indicated that, the level of fear of happiness and self-criticism was moderate, and there were significant differences between the performance averages by gender variable in favor females, and by specialization variable in favor of scientific specialization. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences between the performance averages on the self- criticism measure by the gender variable in favor of males, while there were no significant differences in the level of self-criticism due to the specialization variable. Furthermore, the results revealed a positive statistically significant correlation between fear of happiness and self-criticism.
