Abstract

This study aims at assessing the needs of the schools in Al-thahira governorate in the Sultanate of Oman to activate societal partnership. A questionnaire was developed consisting of four fields; namely, partnership in vision and general aims of the educational process, partnership in providing financial support to the school, partnership in the administrative affairs of schools and partnership in school planning. The result showed that the degree of practicing the special partnership in the school of Al-Thahira governorate was medium in three fields (partnership in vision and general aims of the educational process, partnership in the administrative affairs of the schools and partnership in providing financial support in the school) and low in the fields of school planning. In terms of the degree of importance of societal partnership in the schools of Al-Thahira governorate, it was high in all fields, when calculating the need degree, partnership in providing financial support to the school came first, followed by partnership in school planning, then partnership in administrative affairs of school and in the last rank came partnership in vision and general aims of the educational process.
