Cultural Intelligence and its Relation to Empathy for Medical Staff with Patients of other Nationalities in Jordan

The study aimed to identify the relationship between cultural intelligence and empathy within medical staff towards patients of other nationalities in Jordan. The sample was chosen based on what was available at Karak Governmental Hospital. It was made up of 393 doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. Two scales were developed: the cultural intelligence scale and the empathy scale. The results showed that the study sample had a high degree of cultural intelligence and empathy. The results showed that there were no significant differences in cultural intelligence related to profession, while there were statistically significant differences in empathy in favor of those working in the supporting medical professions. Also, the results showed an effect of cultural intelligence on empathy among the sample. The crucial recommendation is to give doctors courses in empathy, as they receive a medium degree on the empathy scale, as well as courses in stress management that affect their empathy extent
