Cognitive Dissonance and Social Responsibility among The Hashemite University Students in the Light of the Variables of Gender and College

This study aimed at identifying the cognitive dissonance level and its relationship with social responsibility among the Hashemite University students according to the variables of the gender and the college. The sample consisted of (362) students which were selected by stratified random method. The students completed two scales: Cognitive Dissonance Scale, and the Social Responsibility Scale. The results showed that the levels of the cognitive dissonance and the social responsibility were moderate. And there were no statistical significant differences on the cognitive dissonance and the social responsibility due to the variables of the gender and the college. The results also showed that there were negative correlation coefficient between the total score of the cognitive dissonance and the total score of the the social responsibility. In the light of the results there were some recommendations
