Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine emotional separation and its relationship with irrational thinking among married people. The sample consisted of (242) married people selected through accessible sampling technique. an Emotional separation scale, and an irrational thinking scale were used. The results indicated that emotional separation, and irrational beliefs were both in the low level. The most irrational beliefs were negative self- assessment, then internal attribution for failure, dependency, and irritability in order. Moreover, a statistically significant positive relationship between emotional separation, and irrational beliefs was found. Finally, no statistically significant differences in the magnitude of the relationship between emotional separation, and irrational beliefs were found, due to the variables of (gender and years of marriage). However, statistically significant differences were found due to educational level, in favor of MA degree holders, and above, then BA degree holders in order
