Abstract

This study aimed at exploring the effect of an educational program based on the communicative approach on developing critical listening skills among ninth grade students. An educational program and critical listening skills test were developed to achieve this aim. The experimental group was taught according to the educational program while the control group was taught by the traditional method. After five weeks of teaching, the test was administrated for both groups. The Findings  showed significant statistical differences at the level of (α = 0.05) due to the educational program in all critical listening skills in favor of the experimental group. However, no significant differences among ninth grade students in critical listening skills were found due to gender or the interaction between method and gender
