Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using
linguistic games on developing basic stage fourth graders’ linguistic
abilities. The sample of the study consisted of 80 male and female
students. The sample was chosen intentionally, and the students were
enrolled in four sections: two experimental groups (males and
females) and two control groups (males and females). The
experimental groups were taught using linguistic games, while the
traditional method was used for teaching the control groups. A 20-
item test was devised for the study. Its validity and reliability were
verified, and the internal consistency of Cronbach’s alpha reliability ,
means, standard deviations, Two-Way ANOVA test, were calculated at
the =0.05 level. The findings of the study revealed statistical
significant findings for the experimental group due to using linguistic
games. However, there were no statistically significant findings
attributed to interaction between gender and teaching method. The
study concluded with some related recommendations.
