The Effect of Teaching by Instructional Software on Improving Maths Learning Motivation among 2nd Basic Graders in Jordan

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effect of teaching by computer in improving learners' maths motivation level. To achieve the aim of the study, an instructional software consisted of (47) slides included activities and exercises of teaching the multiplication unit in maths, and maths learning motivation scale was constructed. The subjects of the study consisted of (43) 2nd basic graders (20) males, (23) female. The subjects were randomly distributed into two groups: (22) of them in the experimental group taught by the instructional software, and (21) in the control group taught by the conventional method. The results of the study indicated that there were statistical significant differences at the level ( α= 0.05) in maths learning motivation as a whole due to the teaching method in the favor of the experimental group subjects taught by the instructional software, and there were no statistical significant differences due to the gender or to the interaction between the gender and teaching method, and there were statistical significant differences in learning motivation domains due to the teaching method in the favor of the experimental group too
