Reasons for Reluctance of Supervisory Positions From Teachers' Perspective in Kuwait State Schools: A Predictive Study

The aim of this study was to identify Kuwaiti teachers' orientations towards supervisory positions, determine reasons behind reluctance of supervisory positions from teachers' viewpoints, and also to verify the existence of any statistically significant differences regarding reluctance of supervisory positions related to the study variables (gender, position, qualifications, years of experience, and school stage) and to detect any statistically significant effects, regarding reluctance of supervisory positions (administrative, technical, personal or social reasons). The study sample consisted of (1163) Kuwaiti teachers. The researcher used the descriptive survey approach, depended on questionnaire, as the main instrument. Results showed that the degree of reluctance was high, and the reasons of reluctance were technical, administrative, personal, and social. These reasons can be used to predict the general orientations towards supervision. There were no statistically significant differences regarding reluctance of supervising positions due to the study demographic variables
