Spacial Geometric Thinking Levels among Tenth Grade Students

Geometric thought among a sample of (310) male and
female tenth grade students was investigated. The students responded
to a test of spacial geometric thinking levels. The test was developed
by the researcher in light of Van Hiele theory. The psychometric data
of the test were confirmed. The results revealed that among tenth
graders, 71.94% were classified as follows: 34.84% at the informal
deduction level, 17.42% at the formal deduction level, 10.65% at the
analytic level, and 9.03% at the cognition or visual level. In addition,
19.03% among the students were classified as below the cognition
level. Moreover, the findings indicated that there is a correlation
between students’ sex and their geometric thinking levels, and there
were significant differences between their performance on the test
due to their geometric thought
