The Degree of Including the Concepts of Healthy Citizenship in the Social and National Education Textbooks and the National and Civic Education Textbooks for the Level of Basic Education in Jordan

This study aimed at identifying the degree to which the concepts of healthy citizenship were included in all books of social and national education and national and civic education in Jordan for the 2020/2021 academic year. The content-analysis method was used. The results showed that (37) healthy-citizenship concepts have been included in the social and national education books and national and civic education books, with a frequency ranging from (1-14), while there are (58) concepts that are not reflected in any way and without any repetition in all the books the content of which has been analyzed. The results also indicated that the books with the highest inclusion of healthy-citizenship concepts came in favor of the fifth-grade book; social and national education book with (52) frequencies, followed by the seventh grade-national and civic education book with (31) frequencies. The results also revealed that the most included areas of healthy citizenship were in favor of the fourth area, entitled “state health responsibility” with (97) frequencies and a percentage of (88.18%). The study presented a set of recommendations that are associated with the results of the study, Like the inclusion of healthy-citizenship concepts in social and national education books and in national and civic education books in a systematic, educational method
